1Mare Behavior
You have said that mares are moody but you haven't said what to do about it as far as correcting pinned back ears and wanting to bite. My two year old mare is very well trained but she gets grouchy when I go in the stall...

2Moody Mare
she is VERY moody. She is fine on the ground and loves me to death, but as soon as you ride her she pins her ears, kick, bucks and ignores you. My question is, do you believe in Herbal Remedies? ...

3My New Mare
When I bought her she was very calm and gentle. I saw her again before they delivered her, and she was the same way. As soon as she got to the barn...She has been moody, and hyper. She doesn't seem as happy as she did.....I was told that she might also be in heat....When she urinates, she almost squats like a dog...

4Breeding and questions of the heart about horses
....questions and concerns regarding a yearling stallion breeding with a mare. The mare lost a colt the previous year to what was believed to be a freak accident....

5Difficult mare
....We recently bought a 9 year old Morgan mare who has been corralled alone most of her life. She is dead broke and was ridden once a week. She was introduced slowly to the two current mares where we stable her. They now get along great. The first couple of days she was a great ride and listened well. Now however, she is ornry, moody and doesn't want to be taken away from the pasture and her new friends....

6My moody mare
... 2 weeks ago everything changed. We had gotten to the point that I was riding her one day a week in a lesson. Things were going fine the first couple of lessons. The last time I took a lesson things were much different. I had walked her to the indoor arena and she refused to go in. No matter what I did, I could not get her to go. My trainer finally got her in with the help of a crop. During the lesson she was jittery and shying away from everything. She never tried to bolt, rear, or buck but definitely was distracted. Since that time she is aggressive in her stall. She pins her ears and tries to kick....

7Different Behavior at Trainer's than at Home
..after a few rides it became apparent that he had issues with going forward. Didn't want to move at all really, despite me kicking or using a crop (which I hate). I sent him to a western trainer (though I ride english) for three weeks to re-establish the basics. The trainer did a good job whilst he was there, and I rode him out on the roads etc at the trainers and Jack was really good....Now that he is home however he is no where near as good as he was at the trainers. He is better as he will move a bit, but is still lazy and I need to use a lot of leg and sometimes the crop to get him to move properly.

8More Herd Bound Behavior
... Now I have only one horse, but plan to buy an older horse that is already trained. My older mare "Cher" that has never been herd sour, or really even liked other horses, has began to pace, squeal if I touch her, kick her stall, and throw her ears back if I get near her......

9Mare having aggressive new behavior
...Within approximately 1-2 minutes in lunging her she begins kicking and circling closer and faster charging at my husband in the middle. He tried to keep her under control using the lunge whip appropriately but finally, had to leave the round pen because it was a dangerous situation. Today, I tried lunging her and with her third pass of kicking and cutting in closer and closer, she ran straight towards me within 6 feet, turned and kicked up at me! Of course, her ears are back and she seems annoyed just asking her to walk!.

10Geldings responding to mares
Could you tell me what 'gelding' a horse exactly does to him? Here is a really weird question.... Can a gelding be affected or can he sense when a woman is on PMS?

11Ex-racehorse 'whoa's
...now I am the proud owner of a horse that is moody, a non-people person, does not know the meaning of stop or slow, and she is 16.2 hands high. I am 4' 11" and weigh 102 pounds. To make a long story short, she intimidates me and I have never had that happen to me before...

12Lost in Tennessee
...My new horse had to have his tail cut off because of burr's in it? (that is what the last owner said) and I was wondering if you knew how long it would take to grow back as you can tell he had a beautiful thick white tail at one time....

13Is this not the horse for me?
..he had a total of 70days professional training, which was broken in two sessions. I acquired her in the beginning of March, she is at a great facility. The problem I am having is she seems to be back sliding, she is getting pushy and does not want to listen.....

14Aggressive thoroughbred mare
...She had been neglected...is extremely thin... hooves in terrible shape, she had a cut that was very infected an oozing... a very bad case of rain scald. ...When I first brought her home she was fairly quiet, but as the weeks go on she is getting very aggressive...

15Is my mare being moody or what?
I was gone for a week and she was not worked while I was gone. I went through our normal ground work warm up and then riding the day after I got back and she was great. The next day she'd completely melted down. At first she wouldn't even go forward when I asked her (from the saddle). I got off and did more ground work and she was fine. I got back on and she wouldn't respond. I reluctantly put on my English spurs to add some pressure to her (never kicked or anything) and she started to move forward again. Now in the last few rides, if I ask her to do anything more than a walk, she moves all over the place (off the rail) and her new game is to try to push me into the wall...
