My beloved horse has passed on
My beloved horse Misty, just was put down after years of struggle. She has been abused in the past, by previous owners, and the barn I ride at rescued her. She and I clicked the first time we met. She was one of the best friends I've ever had, and I witnessed her death. I am heart broken. Any help?

Hi Lili,
I can really empathize with what you are going through. Losing a beloved animal is the same as losing a close family member. Grieving is good and will help you heal. Something that has helped me through similar situations in the past (and I have had a few) is to begin to help others somehow, either with their animals or any way I could. Offering your help and your love to others is a very healing thing for you to do. It gets your attention off yourself and on to others who are in need. There is no more healing thing you could do for yourself than to assist the needs of others. Eventually, when you are ready, there is another wonderful horse out there waiting for you.
