Gelding after breeding

I have just purchased a yearling stud colt, he has a very good disposition, I have a mare that I was thinking of breeding in the spring I think he would make a good match. My question is if I keep him a stud and breed in the spring then geld him, will his disposition change?

Hello,

First off. generally folks wait until a stallion is at least two years old to start covering mares with him. He may not be fully sexually mature until then. Please check with a veterinarian on this. As this is a young horse, gelding him will settle him down a lot. The older he gets and the more he is bred, the less likely his stallion behavior will change after gelding him. Thank you for your question.

Sincerely, Franklin
